What's up in 2019? It's almost Mardi Gras!

Getting back into the Oh Honey groove!

 

I am working hard to source ingredients that are local, clean and ethically processed. Besides focusing on organically-grown produce, shrimp, crawfish, chicken, and pork processing is a top priority to me these days. It is horrifying that certain practices are acceptable for our nation's food supply. (Having a leader that feeds fast-food to visitors to the White House is telling...) Grateful to live in a town that values, supports, and makes available healthy options for us!

 

Off my soapbox... for now!

 

It's been a blast focusing on cooking parties lately. I looove sharing NOLA recipes with new friends and together gush about the ever-amazing culture of the Crescent City.

Instead of formal pop-up events I have married them with a cooking lesson. (So much in keeping with the casual funky vibe of my home town!) After cooking a scrumptious Creole-Cajun meal, sitting around a communal table together is the best!

February 23rd Fika Cafe (in the wonderful N. Williams neighborhood) will be hosting a cooking and tasting event--I HEART GUMBO! 'looking forward to cooking in this new venue. (Tix available on Oh Honey's home page.) I take care of the lesson and yummy jambalaya, shrimp gumbo and bourbon pecan pie tasting menu. Sally Krantz, Fika Cafe owner, handles the wine, beer and other beverages.

What's up at Frigg's Mercantile?

Well...you know that Make & Take Studio is part of the Frigg? Lee Ann, owner and homesteader extraordinaire, is hosting an inaugural Chocolate Truffles 101 class with me and Food Network celebrity Kati Cline (Kati's cakes). It's the afternoon of March 9th. I can't wait!  Oh sampling recipes is just SO HARD! (Link for tix on Oh Honey's homepage.) Chocolate Calligraphy that same morning too!

 

 

 

So much more to come...Kids' Spring Break Camps with cooking and crafting (and a little uke lesson snuck in too!), boudin-making classes, pairing events at craft breweries and more demo/tasting events all around Portland.
